Akmal Shaukat

A journey into wonderland from an attic in Manningham

My name is Akmal Shaukat and I’m an ex-student of Bradford School of Art. Upon completing my studies I took time out to reflect on consolidating what I had learned and experienced through my art work.

Now upon coming to the end of my journey I wish to present my illustrations. The illustrations are a testament to my journey from teenage years into adulthood; I wanted to illustrate my life experiences from coming on the streets of Manningham to walking the runways as a fashion model.

I began to see dreams and I began to see a more colourful world and I formed a vision. This vision is reflected in the work I wish to present to you today. This collection I hope will allow you the insight into my growing years and growing pains.

I have also been heavily influenced by pop culture and this I have combined with my adulation of the female form. You will see the street edginess, beauty and innocence, combined beautifully together creating a strong, mysterious and seductive collection of work.
